The Real Struggles MBA Students Face While Completing Their Projects

When I first began my IGNOU MBA project work project I thought it would be easy. Select a topic of interest, do some research, write it out and submit. Easy. I had envisioned having it completed in a few weeks. A couple of late nights prior to the deadline. Reality hit fast. It's not just writing a document. It tests your ability to plan, patience and ability to deal with unexpected problems. In my class, almost everyone did not have a good time in any way.

Many students believe that they are able to use the project in the same way as regular essays or research. Weeks later they realize that deadlines are a bit closer than they had hoped and data is not complete, chapters don't align and motivation decreases. Even with a data-ready writing can be a struggle. I was struggling to write about the my findings in a straightforward manner. Some sections felt repetitive. The analysis chapter was rewritten several times.

Maintain a simple language that is easy to read. Get your peers to go through sections. Sometimes, being too involved in your own work can make it difficult to notice errors. Fresh eyes help a lot.

Supervisors Can Be Helpful But Also Frustrating

The task of working with a supervisor can be tricky. Some offer clear guidelines while others are ambiguous or difficult to understand. I waited two weeks for one reply, and it was delayed my progress.

It is important to be proactive. Write specific questions and respond politely, and then record feedback. Supervisors may help but you need the responsibility of your own work.

Formatting and References Matter

I ignored formatting at first. Fonts, spacing, certificates. I thought I could fix them later. Big mistake. It almost delayed the submission.

References are equally important. One missing citation can raise questions. Make use of tools to manage references and do it while writing chapters, instead of waiting until the final. Proper formatting makes your paper much easier for readers and more professional.

Stress Is Real

Stress is inevitable. Deadlines, corrections and unfinished data can cause a lot of stress. Many nights, I stared at the screen and felt like I would never be able to finish.

Short breaks help. Making friends with your partner, going for a hike, or listening to music. Make small accomplishments a priority. In the process of finishing a literature study or data collection are both milestones. They keep motivation fresh.

Ethical Confusion

Many students panic over what type of help is permitted. There is a possibility of asking for guidance but it is not possible to ask someone else to create your assignment. Ethics-related guidance can include feedback on the structure, methodology, and clarity. The original work is yours to keep.

Asking for guidance does not signify cheating. It's a good idea to take advantage of available resources. Students should find help when they're stuck.

Reviewing Your Work

I began by focusing on individual chapters initially. Later, I realized that the whole project in its entirety had numerous repetitions of terms, inconsistencies and missing hyperlinks. The project's comprehensive review reveals some gaps. Imagine yourself as an examiner. You'll see mistakes you would have missed.

Procrastination Destroys Quality

Delaying work is a big issue. It was my expectation that I could finish data analysis and writing in just a couple of hours. That never worked. Each delay decreased quality.

Get started early. Even a single paragraph each day adds up. The project is now easier to manage instead of overwhelming.

What I Learned

The MBA project is not hard because of its complexity. It's difficult because students do not have the proper planning, clarity, and guidance. Making mistakes is a normal part of life. But the key is to make mistakes and move forward.

Being organized is good, but flexibility is the most important thing. Things rarely go as planned. Some information may be missing while supervisors are delayed as obstacles appear. What's important is how you respond to these problems. Break tasks down into sections, focus on one step at a given time, and have an eye on your expectations.

Projects are a way to teach students skills beyond academics. Research discipline, time management, writing clarity and problems solving are lessons that can be used in professional life. The work is difficult, however, it's also practical.
